Don't really know why but only my newer devices (iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy 4) were able to detect the signal whilst my 2 laptops and my iPhone 4 weren't. also my laptop and iphone still pick the signal up all over the house with no problems. there are no yellow flags in my device manager, my wireless card appears to be working fine (driver up to date). If this is the case, then it is likely that it would only effect Windows 7 because it is rare to allow a personal Linux laptop on a corporate Windows domain
